ARTS ALIVE HANDS ON! RETURNS TO THE FAIR – JOINS FORCES WITH WHOLE FOODS FOOD FIGHT
Mobile, Al. , Mobile’s Community Arts Festival makes a return engagement for the 2016 edition of the Greater Gulf State Fair "Lions, Tigers, THE FAIR, oh my”. For more than a dozen years, ARTS ALIVE! has been making art happen in and around Mobile and, for the second year in a row, we’re excited to be presenting ARTS ALIVE – Hands on! for the Fair’s opening weekend, October 30 to November 1.
Since inception, our mission has been to showcase the best of our community’s visual, literary and performing arts and we’ll do that with a full slate of "Hands on” arts experiences including:
Recreating our "street arts festival” with arts and crafts for by local and regional artists;
Interactive art experiences and demonstrations by artists from Gallery 450, Paint Party, and the USA School of Art;
Musical and dance performances featuring the University of Mobile RAMCORPS and the Azalea City School of Art;
And community art projects including naturalist artist Walter Simon creating a tribute to Alabama’s Amazon – the Mobile Delta.
In addition, ARTS ALIVE! has joined forces with FOOD FIGHT, a canned food construction competition benefitting the Bay Area Food Bank. "Food Fight – Hands on! will give fair goers a chance to try their hands at building smaller versions of the eye-catching packaged food structures created by the Food Fight competitors.
